I love my saddle. Lots of good things about it that I don't need to tell you!!! My horse seems very comfy and I love the better communication that it is giving me. I also can't believe what a difference the lower flocking on the right than the left has made. I am playing with the thigh blocks a little. I just don't feel like I can get them working for me quite right. I will keep playing and maybe that's something we can look at in the spring. I am making changes in my position because the saddle lets me. So, it might just be something that comes with time. Do some of the other thigh blocks fit my saddle in case we decide I just need a different fit?

Still confident that we can get some more interested folks for spring or before.

Really appreciated you checking on me and the lovely saddle pad that came with my saddle. You guys are top notch!

Please let Jochen know that everyone here in Florida are very pleased with the saddle adjustments we received on Monday. Phrases like "It's a miracle!" were heard around the place. I also heard that the folks in Ledyard are also extremely happy with the results of Jochen's work last week.

Please thank him for us.

I just wanted to share with you my satisfaction with your product. In June of 2010, I had a heart attack. As I lay in the hospital, I reflected on my life. I decided that I wanted to fulfill my bucket list. I wanted to go camping with my horses and ride the trails. I also wanted the best, most comfortable saddle for my horse and myself. I had tried a number of different saddles 9Stubben, Barclay) over the years, but nothing fit my mutton withered, table backed, horse. He was cinchy and never seemed to be content. I tried a number of saddle fitters and saddles, and I thought I had done the best for my horse, but I had an underlying feeling that the saddle did not fit him.

While I was recovering from my heart attack at home, I searched the internet and came upon your site. I found the Schleese videos very informative. I reviewed the videos for a number of days and continued to search the web. The Schleese saddle made sense (the wide channel, cut back bars) and I loved the idea that the saddle could be adjusted with help from a trained saddle fitter. I contacted your company and weeks after my heart attack, a saddle fitter came to my farm. She was very considerate and in July of 2010, I bought a second hand Schleese Liberty saddle.

In September of 2011, my husband and I, along with a group of older riders, went camping with our horses for a week in Algonquin Park. I am happy to report that I my horse and I were very comfortable during our longest ride (6 hours) in the Schleese Liberty dressage saddle.

Hi Schleese — Just want you to know that I absolutely love my saddle and wouldn’t trade it in right now even if you gave me the new one for free!! That’s how great this saddle is! Kristen has it adjusted beautifully for my horse (which, by the way, Kristen, I now own)and I completely depend on it to give me the support I need. That’s what happens when you make such a great product! Maybe next time.

"I have been riding horses for over 50 years and have always felt that the perfect saddle had yet to be developed. I often dreamed of a saddle that could be adjusted to fit any horse and accomodate it's physical development throught its training.

A saddle that would encourage a proper seat position and actually enhance the riding experience without causing physical damage or discomfort to either horse or rider.

I had thought it impossible and was very skeptical when Jochen Schleese claimed to have developed a saddle that could do that and more. After one ride in the Schleese saddle I was convinced the perfect saddle system had fianally arrived. The horses immediately had a freedom of movement and suppleness that was amazing and actually encourages the horse to work through their backs.

We thank Jochen Schleese for devoting his life to researching and developing his saddle system and is now educating trainers and riders to listen to their horses.

Horses always tell the truth."

I was having trouble fitting my dressage saddle to my horse and had heard from several people that Schleese did a fabulous job at fitting saddles. I contacted them and was able to meet up at one of their fitting sessions where I ended up trying and loving the first saddle I sat in. The saddle is very comfortable and gives a secure feeling. It is well balanced which makes it much easier to focus on riding rather than holding a correct position. I ride a number of horses a day and my saddle is just as comfortable and easy to work in on a baby as it is on my advanced horse. Also, my horse’s shoulders are moving much more free which is an obvious plus. As for the actual saddle fitting, I was very pleased with the Schleese session, especially after having less than great luck with other companies. Thank you Schleese!

Hi Karen and Jochen

My new saddle adjustment has been terrific. No more cold back, or bucking at all !!! We did 105 miles at the Desert Gold endurance ride in Monterey ,CA.

Over Thanksgiving. No more rubbing on the loin area either.
I can’t express how happy I am with the saddle.
Thank You. And have a Joyful and Happy Holiday Season.!!!

Each of our 3 horses has the benefit of having their own Schleese saddles and I am disinclined to risk their backs with a non-Schleese saddle...

By the way, my gelding, Cloud Nine Cometa took 4th Grand National Champion in his division at our National Show. He’s also the 5th highest pointed gelding among all Paso Fino divisions nationally. We owe much of our success to the benefits derived from using Schleese saddles. When Cometa’s saddle returned from 6 weeks of service at your facility, he moved much more freely and really perked up. It was his testimonial to the excellent fit and related freedom we experienced with his saddle. I feel that our success is tied directly to our Schleese saddles. Thank you for providing such a wonderful product.

Hello Jochen,

I just wanted to send you this email to thank you for the effort you went through to ensure that I was happy with my saddle from your company. I do understand that you and Liana went above and beyond to help me out of a saddle that was not working for me and into one that really improves my position as well as my horses way of going.

I have forwarded a picture of me riding Deuce in the Wave saddle. I know you have a huge clientele but if you can remember fitting me originally (as a 240lb woman) into a hunter pleasure saddle at the Massachusetts Equine Affaire a number of years ago, I hope you will appreciate the difference.

Thank you again for making this saddle purchase possible.

I have just had my first ride in my new Eagle saddle. I will preface this by saying I was skeptical about my spending this kind of money for a saddle. As I explained, I’m from the old school, and had always gotten by without much special attention to the saddle before – I guess I was just lucky that my previous horses did not have the problems that are apparent today.

I’ve ridden off and on since I was 7, and am now 57. I took time off when having a family, but always found some way to at least ride “other people’s horses. I was hoping lots of work on the roads and in the fields would be enough to have him do H/J and equitation at least, but the kissing spine diagnosis most likely suggests that won’t be happening.

But this morning, I just had my first ride in my new saddle, on the scenic back roads here in upstate New York. Bagavond was very happy. I always knew him to be a pretty smart fellow, who needs a job. He loves getting out. And I have never had a more comfortable ride. I feel now I can work with him safely, without exacerbating his problems. So today was the first day we had it all together – and my first day back to my life’s passion.

I also appreciate the video on your website of the 93 year old woman. You see, my sister had a friend, Frances, up in Cazenovia, NY – and she rode until she passed away at 95. That is who I wish to be. There is nothing like having a horse in your life.

Best regards,

Hi Jochen, I just want to pass along to you the email that I received from Mary Thacker, my student who came to Coopersburg w/ me and Gid back in the summer, and whom you fit for a brown jumping saddle. She had the 19 yr old TB you kept exclaiming over….Their saddle just arrived Thanksgiving weekend, and she reported today:

Today's ride was even better than yesterday! It only took a few minutes to get him soft, and after a good canter he was so flexible, soft and his back was up. It was amazing. I feel so balanced in this saddle and safer. Not that I felt totally unsafe before, but I think I rode a little more guarded and wasn't realizing it. I've been galloping him around the outdoor and it is so neat in this saddle, I can't explain it. You'll have to ride in it, for sure. Maybe take Derby to the outdoor and get a good forward canter going. He just feels so different, I think because his back isn't hollowed. We are both very, very happy :)

Mary Thacker, Coopersburg, PA

I have enjoyed all of the e-mails that have been sent my way. I am a 'horse owner from way back' but mostly breeding and not serious riding. This is changing and I am in need of a new saddle. Am looking seriously at a schleese product, and have very much appreciated all the helpful information on your informative videos. This Savoie video is no exception. Thank you so much for the information presented in such an easy to understand manner.

My wife Heidi recently had her FEI horse Depardieu fit for a saddle by Jochem. Both Heidi and I consider the day to have been a true inflection point in the way we think about saddle fit. We could not have been more impressed with change in Depardieu's way of going. We not only look forward to seeing Depardieu's progress in his Schleese saddle but look forward to experiencing and sharing this trans formative experience again and again as we have our other horses and clients horses fit as well.

I may sound like a broken record...but just wanted to pass on that I am once again totally shocked by what a difference my saddle fitting made! Please pass on to Jochen that all the canter problems I was having w my new horse are totally solved! Nothing has changed but the saddles! Thanks to you all!

Hi,

I bought an older used Schleese a week or so ago and got it just in the nick of time to have it fitted by Kristen Vlietstra.

I can’t believe the difference it’s made in my horse! Our first ride was just lovely. We had our 2nd ride today, and she is moving like a different horse! I feel like I’m part of my horse. We’ve had our share of saddle woes and attempts at fittings through the years. How nice to be able to give her the gift of a saddle that really fits her—and can be adjusted as she changes shape!

Not only is my mare difficult to fit, but I am, too. I have a very long femur and my knee has always stuck so far out in front of the saddle or my knees were so wide, there was no way for me to sit properly. Not a problem for the Schleese! In fact, I was amazed that when I rode in this saddle on my very round horse, that I felt like she was suddenly much narrower because my leg was actually in the correct position. I even had to shorten my stirrups!

I can’t thank you enough. We’re looking forward to many more wonderful rides together and I can’t see myself ever riding in anything other than a Schleese!

I met Jochen Schleese in 2007 at Dressage at Devon, where I showed my Oldenburg Stallion "Diamunde" in the 5 y/o FEI Horse Competition and in the Breed Show. I immediately loved the idea of the saddle being adjustable to both horse and rider, but was otherwise not too fond of having to spend what seemed to be a small fortune for a new saddle (I had only owned my stallion for one year, and had bought him his 3rd saddle already). Jochen persisted and we met the day after my competition finished. After a wonderfully informative fitting and lecture it was time to ride my horse in this new saddle. No saddle pad, crowded, crazy warmup arena at Devon, and 10 minutes into the whole thing people were watching a 5 y/o stallion playing with his newfound back and shoulder freedom and a rider smiling from one ear to the other. So, only one regret: I should have bought the saddle before my FEI competition. And this was only the start of a very wonderful relationship with Jochen and the Schleese company. Together, we now have developed a new saddle called the "Elegancia" for the shortbacked Iberian and modern Warmblood Sporthorse. Boy, wait until you try this one! I have yet to feel this much freedom in my horses' backs!!! My tempi changes have mysteriously become fabulous and my horses's extensions are out of this world! And to come back to the "small fortune" idea: Yes, I feel fortunate to ride in a Schleese saddle, my horses are happy and sound, and I have saved more money and time than I can tell you! So, look at the big picture: You are investing in your and your horses' health!

Introducing Another Sponsor of “Dover’s World Live”- Schleese Saddlery!

I am so pleased to announce another of my 5 Presenting Sponsors for my upcoming Radio Show, “Dover’s World Live”, which premiers one week from today, Tuesday, October 19th at 6:00 pm on AM 1230 WBZT. Schleese Saddlery is a company which I have known, along with its founder, Jochen Schleese, for many years. I have to tell you that I have been involved with and actually designed saddles for a number of other manufacturers over the decades and am still great friends with some of the owners. That being said, I have to hand it to Jochen, who I joke with since he very much directs his advertising toward the “female gender”, because with great care and many fittings, we came up with a saddle which I can honestly say is the most comfortable and closest fitting to the horse that I have ever ridden in. The fit on the horse is reminiscent of the Schultheis Saddle which I rode in 30 years ago but the craftsmanship includes state of the art design and materials which provide the rider (male or female) with extraordinary comfort! It’s pretty much like sitting in your favourite chair at home, while affording you the perfect seat and leg position you need on the horse. So, in the end it’s sort of the reverse of that old “Irish Spring Deodorant” commercial with the lady who says, ” Made for the man……but I like it too!” Schleese may be directing its energy toward the female clientele, but I guarantee all you guys out there will love riding in my saddle.

Wow, wow, wow, wow! I am so grateful and amazed at your generosity. It’s taken me a long time to write because I didn’t think I could possibly find the words to express my thanks adequately. I still don’t have the words but am finally writing anyway! My new saddle is amazing!! When you decided we needed a special new saddle, I thought it was really for my horse. After all, I hadn’t had any problems with saddle fit for myself when the saddle fit the horse and my last saddle was comfortable for me. I knew the new saddle would fit Juilliard beautifully, but I have been shocked at how big a difference it has made for me too! My seat and legs ar always exactly where they need to be, without me even trying. And this isn’t just when the horse is still. It’s at all gaits, lateral work, etc.! I feel like I’m sitting IN my horse, not on top of him. My legs are long without me having to stretch them down. I have always envied how male dressage riders have such effortless position, and now I sit just as effectively as they do! This saddle puts my weight over precisely the right spot on my horse’s back. In every saddle prior to this, I’ve always felt behind the motion with Juilliard’s medium and extended trots. Now for the first time I am in balance with the motion for these big trots. It is wonderful to no longer be fighting my saddle, and to instead have one that makes my job more easy and comfortable! The biggest change I have noticed with Juilliard is the adjustability of the canter. With previous saddles, in even just a lengthened canter, it always felt like the rear of the saddle was blocking the movement of his back, and he had to brace against it hitting him. Often I had to go into a half seat or he would buck instead of making his stride longer. Now his back has room to move with the new saddle, and he easily and willingly elongates and makes big round jumpy strides (like he hasn’t done since he was young and saddle length wasn’t an issue). This is such an amazing saddle for both of us, and I can’t thank you enough for making it happen! Many, many thanks!!

Dear Schleese,

Excellent (web)site; I have watched all of the videos and was ashamed to say I had forgotten the little bit (tip) about a piece of chalk rolling or sitting ideally in the middle of the seat (indicating where the current natural center of balance of the seat is located)!

I just so hope that one day I will be able to buy one of your saddles; but for now I can dream on till eventually I can earn one.

It (is)was a beautiful site, and videos, easy to navigate, and I am not a computer person at all!

I want to thank Jochen for coming to my farm and adjusting the saddles for my 2 horses. Three days later, my I2 horse and I received the highest score we ever got at a show. My 7 year old mare is feeling awesome. She is more forward, has more freedom of range in her shoulders and overall more connected. They both greatly benefitted from the saddle fitting.

Thank you for helping me keep my horses happy athletes.

"There are some great horse videos on YouTube, some educational, fun and some downright scary. Here's one of my favs...actually it's a channel by Schleese Saddlery Service. Schleese is a master saddler very much in demand in North America and Europe. This is an excellent channel that explains many facets of fitting English saddles to horse and rider. There's a great video about fitting saddles to womens' conformation".Schleese on YouTube!

Jochen Schleese was amazingly genuine! He gave us such wonderful information about horses that I didn’t know. Jochen has a natural speaking ability where he draws his audience in and keeps them engaged. I could feel that he is really passionate about what he spoke about. He comes across as a very warm, loving human being. I thought that he was a wonderful speaker!

Jochen, thank you so much for your presentation on preserving the health and well-being of horses throughout the world. Your passion, depth of knowledge and sense of humour inspired me to explore the possibility of taking your course and spreading ‘the word’!

Best of luck for your company.

... I had no intention of buying a new dressage saddle (I meant to see which saddle fit him best then try and buy a used one) but as soon as I sat in the Schleese Connexion saddle I really liked it. It was also immediately obvious that my horse liked it too as he went from being a little bit stiff and shuffling to big extravagant floaty paces within a few strides! The saddle is well made, the leather feels great & it has large external knee blocks which are really good at helping me keep the correct position & gives me a bit of extra security (my horse is a big warmblood with a huge stride who can suddenly explode skywards!). I also like that it's a monoflap as I feel really close to my horse (& there's less to clean which is a bonus for me).

The only thing I don't like is that the saddle is rather heavy but my horse doesn't seem to object. Very well made, it is very comfortable & it looks great. I bought this saddle about 1 month ago & I can honestly say that this is the best purchase I have ever made for me & my horse. I tried different Schleese models. I was surprised how different they felt so it's a case of trying different models out to see what suits you and your horse the best. The difference in the way my horse moves is amazing. In my old saddle I felt like I was always fighting to get/stay in the correct position but in this saddle I sit correctly and can concentrate on actually riding.

...Let me start this post by saying that one of the reasons I use Schleese to fit my saddle is because of how knowledgeable all the fitters are. I could easily get my saddle done by other fitters, and Schleese can fit other brands of saddles so it is not like I am locked in.

The reason I use Schleese is because they really know what they are talking about and take the time to explain why they are doing what they are doing. Many saddle fitters just tell you that they will "fix it". The difference from getting a saddle fit by Schleese and those from other companies is that Schleese is trying to educate their customers, a fact that I really appreciate....

... Remeer, my horse with the broken withers, is enjoying his re-constructed saddle. I can finally ride without having to get off every few minutes and re-set the saddle. Turns out, when his saddle stays in place, his canter is awesome! If I had not witnessed the science that goes into the Schleese system, I would simply call it a miracle.

I'd like to tell you what a wonderful day it was, despite the cold. I derived so much benefit from your clinic and evaluation. Laura's evaluation basically came down to, my saddle ( not a Schleese) fits me, but it doesn't fit my horse well, and has even started causing him some minor problems in his spine. I can't say I'm surprised by the evaluation, knowing more now of the skill level of the person who sold me the saddle than I did when I made the purchase 3 years ago. But I've never had such a good time and enjoyed getting a "bad" report as I did at your clinic!

I tell people that someone else sold me my horse, but Terry's the one who really "gave" him to me through her instruction. Now I can say that Schleese has given me more of my horse, and hopefully will allow him and I to work together longer, as he'll be healthier and happier in our work together.

Thank you.

... As I said earlier, Dante is doing wonderfully!!!!! I've had him for two years now and the first time I tried to ride him after I purchased him he dumped me. I got scared and never tried it again. He kept rearing and I was afraid of him. I honestly never thought I would ever ride him again! But I love(d) him so much I settled for a pasture pet until Chris Kellogg began working with him. She worked miracles in him and together with the Schleese saddle I am now able to ride him with growing confidence and abundant joy! You were a major part of allowing me to ride him again!

Siri is another marvelous success story! She always grumped when I rode her. Ears pinned back, reluctant to go, and when she did go it was way too fast and uncomfortable!!! I severely threw my back out twice trying to sit her trot! However, I noticed she was much more pleasant when my daughter rode her (in her cheap $149 saddle, remember?!). I never attributed it to the Wintec I was riding her in. I always thought it was my weight. Our rides always turned into an attitude adjustment lesson. NOT SO NOW!!!! She is so pleasant to ride her in the western Schleese! She doesn't pin her ears anymore, she is willing to go, but now she's stretching her neck down as we trot!! She never did that before. She's getting nice and round too, and that never happened before either. Before the new saddle, she had trouble bending - but not anymore!!! She is a totally different horse to ride!!! I am so thrilled and amazed at what the Schleese saddle has done for me and my horses!!! It was worth every dime and I would gladly pay that all over again to have happy, healthy horses that I now have thanks to you and Schleese!!!! I'm hooked and I will never consider anything else for my horses. (I feel like I'm riding in a Lazy Boy!) My words cannot begin to describe how happy I am. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!! You are the Best!!!

Lots of love,

Sherilyn Allen, DVM writes...

We all know that the most important obstacle to free and elastic movement in the horse is pain. Pain in the mouth from the bit, and pain in the feet from shoes or poor foot conformation are primary in our minds. The source of pain most overlooked by riders is the horse’s back, due to the saddle and/or, the rider-saddle combination.

Diligent riders usually find themselves in a never ending search for a saddle that is comfortable for them, and allows their body to be placed in the position proper for them to be able to ride most effectively. Then after endless searching, riders put the saddle on the horse, and something does not work: it slides forward onto the shoulders, it slides backwards, it is unstable on the horse’s back, it does not sit level, after a while it is crushing the withers, or the cantle is digging into the lumbar area, etc. The rider goes to the saddle fitter for help and the answer is proverbially to reflock it. The reflocking usually simply creates another problem and does not fix the original problem anyway, because the problem is not in the flocking, but in the design of the whole saddle.

So the frustrated rider continues on the quest for another saddle, and usually ends up with the exact same problems with the new saddle. Why? (Answer) - Because most saddles are not designed properly to fit the horse comfortably. Most dressage saddles all have the same basic design and shape with little "tweakings" in the panels for the rider, or different types of flocking, or different tree widths etc. But the basic design of most dressage saddles is the same. That is, until you get a saddle maker who is building a saddle which takes into account the anatomy of the horse, the biomechanics of the horse’s back, the realization of painful pressure areas on the horse’s back, and the knowledge that all horses and riders have individual differences in their conformation.

Jochen Schleese takes all these factors into consideration when he builds a saddle for you, your horse, and your riding discipline. In a saddle fitting session, the casual observer can see the amazing difference in the way your horse moves with his old saddle and with his new Schleese saddle. You will feel the difference. Pain free, the horse can move in ways you never imagined your horse could move. Pain free and in a stable position, you can ride better than you ever imagined. When changing into a Schleese saddle, the only comments both observers and you, the rider, can say are “Wow!” “Amazing!”

So you say, “Well all that is ideal, but I cannot afford a Schleese saddle.” The reply of course is that you have been spending hundreds, no thousands of dollars on other saddles, one after another, and vet bills or alternative therapies to fix your “just not right” horse, and days, if not years of being frustrated with your horse and your riding.

So avoid all that, and go for a Schleese saddle fit to you and your horse by a Schleese saddle maker. Go to the various education lectures put on by Jochen Schleese. Inform yourself of what is needed for an effective and pain free saddle fit. Better informed, you will WANT to do the correct thing for you and your horse. When you feel the difference the Schleese saddle makes for you and your horse, you will never again want any saddle system other than a Schleese. Daily, I am amazed at the progress my horses make in their dressage training. Their movement is becoming fantastic! I could not be happier!!

Ok, I think I am a full fledged junkie. Not sure if I should be excited or embarrassed....do I feel happy about my new education or just plain stupid that I have been keeping chiropractors in business for so many years!

The horses here are sooooooooooo happy. Lisa rode both Dante and Siri today in her new Western Trail saddle and they were both great. Siri did not EVER drag her down in the bridle and Dante was swinging his hips like I've never seen him...and I didn't even warm him up for her!

Peach, my TB mare, loved it! I rode her in the Link for the first time today. She has had some real contact issues after many months cantering upside down in a gag snaffle trying to be a polo pony. She's a tense mare and we spend most of our time just finding a quiet rhythm and finding some straightforward contact with the bridle. Today was so much easier...after a couple circles of "old Peach", she actually dropped her neck down and out, put a little weight in my reins and began to swing. Seriously, I was afraid to move! She has never been so compliant.

Riders are really happy too. It's the first time I have ridden in a saddle that has figured out how to be balanced from front to back AND from left to right. It feels like someone put and "X" in the perfect middle and I'm abe to sit on it all the time. I didn't want to get off!

Dante continues to improve. I cannot believe the new swing in his gait and his uphill canter that we could never find. I can actually see his back muscles improving along with the basic elastcity in his body. Pretty cool.

Just started working LaGranto in the Schleese (he's the story about my cardanel sitting so tight on his withers). Third day was yesterday, in the rain, and already his left side work has improved. Hate to say it, but after 4 years trying to fix a lateral left lead canter, he was actually cantering 3-beat on his own. Schleese rocks...we proudly display our banner! Doug wants on for the road side fence!

To All at Schleese Saddlery,

I'd like to express my gratitude to Jochen and Sabine Schleese, Miriam Boutros, Natalie Nauner and all the others involved for their fantastic support and contribution to my 2009 show season with "Arwen". She finished with Reserve Champion Intermediate Horse and "OHTA Horse of the Year" honours!! My saddles, "The Eventer" (jump) and "the Wave" (dressage) make my daily training a joy and help us excell to our best abilities in competition.

A great note of interest regarding my young horse "Rumble" when put into a properly fitt(ed) saddle we had dramatic improvements in her dressage scores, 10-15% better!! She was able to round much more over her jumps as she had the freedom through the shoulder and ribs. Her gallop showed a much more ground covering stride. It was exciting to feel this change!

Thanks again Schleese Saddlery

Just wanted to let you know...

I have been only walking "Z" and he has been good. He's sooooooooo crooked that it's sendless to do more until Dr. Hildebrand sees him Tuesday.

Today I lunged him in the ring with saddle only so I could see how he was moving. He was BEAUTIFUL! He trotted freer in the shoulder than I have ever seen him, and he cantered 5 times around a 20m circle, with his back up, and his neck stretched out and down. I was near tears. Going to the right...I could hear his 3 beat canter as opposed to the lateral canter he has been trying to maintain. Awesome. He's so talented and I'm so lucky.

Soon he will be pain free, too.

Speaking about her Link Schleese Saddle

Jochen,
The saddle fit and lecture were a resounding success. When I went to the barn today, there were so many smiles and happy horses from the people and horses you helped.

This afternoon I was riding in the ring with Rebecca and her horse "Fritz". "Fritz" was calm and moving like he was floating on air and I have never seen Rebecca happier. She is talking about competing in the spring and wants to know if we can compete together.

Everyone was showing their new saddles to each other and talking about "saddle fit". A few folks that had not attended the lecture or fitting session even approached me asking about their saddles. I can't take your class soon enough!

Since Schleese sells trail saddles, both Western and English versions, we were wondering if your next visit could be on a Saturday. We have quite a few trail riders both English and Western that could benefit from the lecture and saddle fit evaluation. Most, if not all of these folks, are up on the wekend and have mentioned they would be interested. We could possibly do the lecture on a Friday evening and the fitting on the Saturday. I know this is a lot to ask because of your family obligations, but we hope you might consider it.

Jochen, I can't thank you enough for the sincere interest and service you showered on my "barn friends". Your patience, hard work and good humor was a blessing on a very long day. All of us look forward to seeing you again soon.

Warmest regards,

Suzanne Wilt, Summit, New Jersey

My name is Katie Tyalor, and you came out to do a saddle fitting on my mare "Phyllis" on November 19th. I just wanted to let you know how much we love the new saddle! All of the weird problems I had been having with "Phyllis" have gone away. I can't believe how happy she is and how much toopline she's already developed in such a short time! I have had the best series of rides on her since November 19th than I have EVER had since I started riding "Phyllis" two years ago. And I must admist, my knees are much happier in the new saddle too. So all and all, a derfinte success!

Anyway, thanks again for your help. I am SO much happier now!

Sincerely,

Katie Taylor, Hamilton,ON

What a great job Denise Lenz did at BlueRoof Equestrian Center yesterday!! We ALL appreciate her hard work!

All went smoothly and we even came up with a saddle (an extra Schleese!) that works for my hard to fit horse - you don't know how happy that makes me and my boy too! My hard to fit guy and I had a stunning ride today - first time he really offers to stretch! Guess having a saddle that fits well helps that!

Denise is awesome :)

Hi Michelle, I would like to add my testimonial to your website.

I have had two of your saddles for about 3 years. One is your Trail saddle and the other is the Eventing saddle. I ride endurance, trail and am learning dressage. Needles to say, I ride hard and long. I had a problem with my Trail saddle and called your office to find out the saddle was under warranty! You sent me the information to mail the saddle back to Schleese for repair. I received the saddle back completely fixed and as pretty as a new penny! It was so refreshing to see a company that stands behind their product and has so much pride in their workmanship! The repair did not cost me anything other than packing up the saddle and taking it to the store for shipping.

Thank you so much for all your effort on my behalf. A saddle fit for Life and a customer for life!

Once again, it was a real pleasure meeting someone else that works for Schleese Saddlery. Hannah Johnson brought Natalie Sauner to my farm to adjust a saddle I bought about 5 weeks ago. First of all, Natalie was very professional and is a great representative for Schleese. Secondly, I am so excited about the fact that my 11 year old Andalusion's back has improved to quickly!

Thanks again for conducting your business with integrity and providing information, based on facts, that has assisted in the health and well being of my horses!

Sincerely,

Cindy Musselwhite, FL

I met Mr. Schleese June 25th at Rocking Horse Stables in Altoona, FL and he performed the saddle fit on three of my horses. One saddle, the Triumph, I bought on sight, the Western saddle and the Wave saddle are being customized for my other two horses...

Please pass on to Mr. Schleese how grateful and appreciative I am for the work he is doing. I am so pleased with the outcome of our meeting. His integrity, professionalism, theory and common sense gave me a renewed sense of hope regarding the plight of the horse. I am sick that it took three years for someone to finally answer my questions, scientifically, regarding saddle fit for myself and more importantly for my horses. I will never understand how people in this industry can ignore the FACTS! I can promise you, everyone I come in contact with, will hear about my experience with Mr. Schleese and hopefully, for the sake of the horse, we can correct the injustice that is inflicted upon these wonderfully forgiving animals!

I am now going to e-mail Dr. Gerd Heuschmann and Isabella Sonntag to thank them, once again, for supplying factual information and supporting people like Mr. Schleese.

Many thanks and best regards,

Cindy Musselwhite, FL

Forgive me for not getting right back to you...

As I believe you know, I did manage to get together with Natalie Sauner. Her adjustments of the saddle made an instant improvement in the way "Rino" stepped forward. This extra zip he shows in his gaits feels like I have changed over from driving with low-grade gas to the Hi-test variety. The saddle has already made a noticeable improvement in stadium-jumping and cross-country events and now I feel confident this improved freedom in his "action" also will result in improved dressage results too.

I've been thrilled with both the saddle and the service.

Cheers,

Brent MacLeod, Mt. Albert, ON

I wanted to follow up and let you know that the saddle fitting session on Friday in Glenpool, OK was a great experience. Unfortunately, my Wave saddle wasn't the saddle for my broad back warmblood but Kristen Vlietstra came through and had a custom consignment saddle that she was able to fit to my boy after she carefully measured, discussed details, etc. Although we had to spend more $$ than anticipated, she took my saddle on consignment and was very positive it would sell quickly... I told several of my friends that this experience was so different from the one I had with a competitor saddle fitter. That person immediately had me riding in new saddles in the $4000.00 price range when the saddle I had, fit o.k. (but now know better) and wasn't shopping for a new saddle. The Schleese experience was beyond my expectations and well worth the long drive!

Thanks again and PLEASE keep going to Glenpool or even closer to me, eastern Kansas.

I recently bought a saddle from your company and I would just like to say how happy I am with it. I am really noticing a difference in my horse and Ive only ridden in it a hand full of times.
Your fitter John was amazingly helpful and knowledgeable. The battle to find a saddle that fits my hard to fit horse was very frustrating and he was a huge help.
I never felt pressured to purchase the saddle and he went through all the options with me. I would purchase from you guys again in a heart beat and Ive been talking about the service non stop since I got my saddle.
Thank you very much please pass my thanks on to John as well.

Courtney Siler, Ontario

John was amazing. His professional approach, knowledge and people skills are a credit to any employer. He is great with kids and adults alike and certainly impressed me with his wide experience.
The man is a gem and I feel that we all came out way ahead for his coming to the barn. I look forward to our next meeting of which I feel will happen again!
Thanks again and if I can ever give you a hand, please let me know!

Holly, Snip and I had are back from a 2 day trip down to Pensacola, Florida where we met our fantastic Rep/Saddle fitter from Schleese for a saddle fitting. We didn't really pay to much attention to the mileage before heading out, but the owner of the barn down in Pensacola said it was about a 4 hour drive to her place from Atlanta. Well, 2 hours into the trip we realized this wasn't a 4 hour trip, but rather a 6 hour trip. We arrived in Pensacola just a few minutes before our scheduled saddle fitting. Kristen, the Rep/Saddle fitter was just finishing with the horse before us so it was perfect timing.
The Schleese saddle is still new for Holly, and so far we have nothing but great things to say about this company. We knew this was a fantastic company from the second we started talking to them at the World Cup in Las Vegas. So, if youre looking for a custom fit saddle, try a Schleese saddle. They have great saddles, and great customer service.

Hains Dressage, FL

You need to know that Jocko, the Canadian Field Hunter Champion for 2007 the Master of Fox Hounds Association centennial was also clad in Schleese. And one of the Virginia judges said to me What a beautiful saddle! yes we won the appointments/turnout class too. A poster size photo of us jumping toward the camera was on display (with many others) at the closing ceremonies at Morven Park in May. Thanks to a Schleese, we looked great.

Sporty loves his new saddle. So does my bum!

Anne McKibbin, ON

I have been a Schleese client since 2004. I believe that Schleese makes wonderful leather products and is top of the industry in saddle fit for the horse. Unfortunately there have been times when I haven't thought Schleese customer service is as wonderful as your products. This is NOT one of those times!

Over the last 6 weeks I have been asking difficult questions regarding whether an outside product, a "seat bone saver" could be added to my saddle due to a low back injury which has resulted in a dysfunction.

Kristen was very understanding, as well as thoroughly answering my questions, addressing my concerns and advising me on what she felt would be the best solution. Kristen also demonstrated how much she believes in the product she promotes by making it risk-free for me to follow her plan of action.

Kristen demonstrates good customer relations whether on the phone with me or in person at the saddle fit clinics. She has always been conscientious and knowledgeable about providing the best fit for horse and rider and now has extended these evaluation skills to include a rider with low back dysfunction - Me!

I think more often than not you probably hear about the problems - Just wanted you to know what an asset Kristen is to Schleese Saddlery!

I purchased a new dressage saddle from Schleese approximately one year ago. I was forced into the saddle buying market because my young horse proved to be very difficult to fit. I want you to know how much I love the saddle and what a relief it is to know that my saddle is not contributing to any discomfort for my young horse as she matures and develops. The saddle has made a tremendous difference in my ability to improve my seat and aids. As an adult amateur rider that takes much pleasure from my horses I want to thank you for your excellent product and customer service. Initially intimidated by the thought of a 'custom made' saddle I now recognize it was the best thing I could have done. The saddle buying experience has been pleasurable and painless from the start with Schleese involved. I thank Gen Kendell for taking the time to explain the saddle fitting process and answering all my questions. Gen attended my farm again in the fall (unsolicited) to check on the continued good fit of my saddle and it was another enjoyable experience. I realize how lucky I am to have purchased a Canadian product that has superior craftsmanship as well as truly extraordinary customer service. Believe me that I tell everyone I know of my positive experience with Schleese and I thank you again.

Vicki Ryckman, ON

Many thanks to Kristen and Christine for their profesionalism and preciseness in fitting my saddle. so pleased to have pros assess, discuss and recommend for each of my horses. As a novice rider with some physical limitations I found their concern for the right 'match of saddle' to both horse and rider paramount to 'selling a saddle'. Unlike many other 'saddle ' fitters, both were most focused on just that saddle fitting. No hard sell in fact quite the opposite. I am anxious to receive the used saddle which I purchased from Schleese as it is identical to my other older which I love. I am confident that this one too will be a good fit for both of us. Many thanks and do not hesitate to have potential Schleese customers contact me.

Here are the thoughts I have re: the saddles and why I continue to get them:

1. Personalized and clearly knowledgeable fit for the horse and for the rider;
2. The saddles are not only comfortable, they are effective...at helping rider naturally, without strain, maintain productive posture/seat for whichever discipline.
3. The saddles have allowed various of our horses to move more freely, become more balanced in their bodies; turn better; take weaker leads more readily, for example.
horses with sore or weaker backs or conformation have benefited.
4. Followup, followup, followup...the attention to detail, checking fits for horse and rider; listening and producing changes in the saddle as needed, as each horse's body changes (and/or the rider's!), is remarkable.

Yes, one pays for this personalized service. Personally I feel it has allowed my riding, as a mature rider to become more graceful and effective, while being easier on my back, especially, than other "custom" saddles.

It must be noted however, that our horses also receive routinely: body work, conditioning, training, equine dentistry; specialized farriery as needed....the saddles are part of a "comprehensive program" to support longevity and productivity for horses and riders.

Charlotte C., FLA

Just wanted to let you know I am really enjoying my new Wave. My horse is so much more comfortable. I can actually hack him out again! I never put the two together, but I noticed after I got that County; he used to object to being hacked out. I wouldn't get far from the barn and he would try to rear and refuse to walk forward, and try to get back to the barn (i used to canter him "on the buckle" all around the hills of Chester Co, PA). I gave up hacking him, just figured my dressage horse was no longer my hack horse. Last week I noticed I could walk him down the driveway and he was his old forward self. This past weekend I took him out in the fields and he forgot all about his previous dislike of hacking. I can't say enough about what the saddle has done for my position and riding (more open hip and therefore, more uphill balance); but, being able to hack out again and that my horse is really enjoying it is a unexpected surprise. I'm happy to know that he is comfortable again! I wanted to ask you if Schleese recommends any particular care tips/products. I haven't done anything to it except wipe it down, just to make sure I was going to keep it before the 30 day trial was up. Thanks for all of your help and your expert fitting and advice.

Liz Henne, GA

There is a lot to consider in achieving good fit - your presentation opened the door to understanding that there is a lot of benefit to the "happy athlete" by paying attention to saddle and equipment fitting well. The three essentials you afford me are great to keep in mind.

Barbi Breen-Gurley, CA

I am writing to you to tell you how pleased I am with my Schleese saddles.
They are so comfortable and my horses move so much better with them than with the other saddles that I have. The service I have received is excellent: Deb and Matt from California really go the extra mile to help their customers and they really work hard to make the saddles fit both the riders and the horses perfectly. With my long legs, it has been hard to find the right saddle for me. Deb and Matt helped fit the saddles to me and I ride better in your saddles than any other saddles on the market. Your saddles are truly the best on the market. Thank you very much and happy holidays.

Gina G., CA

I just purchased a new Schleese (size 18 Infinity) from you. A couple of comments....I LOVE my new Schleese - I think that I'm gonna marry it!!!!!! Although it has been tough trying to get used to a dressage saddle (when all that I owned was an all-purpose Collegiate) and getting used to my horse moving so BIG !!! Also, I'm seriously considering buying a jumping saddle from y'all - given how well that this saddle fits my horse! So I'm thinking...that when you come back in 6mos to check my horse - can you bring some either new or used jumping saddles with you?? Also, I think I might have a couple of other people interested in getting their saddles checked at that time as well !! Anyway, that's all for now!! I appreciate all of your help - the change in my horse has just been amazing !!!

Valarie Porter-Cranor (and Tigger) :), TX

I have been through a lot of saddles in my life - when you're young you're not as picky and in Germany - where I grew up - no one wasted a minute about thinking of saddle fit for horse or rider???? What a concept and what a luxury.

Thankfully we have arrived in a different time. I have had a couple of great saddles - but the one that really marries the best for my horse and the best for me is my custom Schleese. I have to say this because I was very leery - especially since the Schleese has always been known to be first class for the horse's back and a 'dressage movement enabler'... BUT- the ladies that rode in it mostly had sad faces and weren't happy...it was NOT comfy.

Well I guess they have figured it out now- because I AM very HAPPY in my saddle and my horse moves like from a 6 to an 8 on gaits...and there are witnesses saying that! I think the tree is fibreglass - or something else than wood - so it kind of folds almost- it's definitely elastic and when you ride any medium gait it truly sucks you into the movement and the saddle - so if you are loose in the hip - all you have to do is follow the movement. The horses (I ride both mine in this saddle- although they are vastly different ...) love it- have perfect sweat marks- are not encumbered and I am a happy camper...! It was not cheap - but worth every penny!!!

Here is a short blip about how Impromptu (romper) and I feel about our Schleese saddle! After trying several well known brands of hunt saddles, I was really frustrated! Impromptu a three year old Morgan mare, has a nice wide spine, and well developed withers. She and I had come to a stand still in our training progress as none of my saddles were fitting her. They either rolled side to side as I was riding her, or sat to low on her making me ride "uphill" all the time. A friend of mine rides in a Schleese dressage saddle on her Morgan mare. She suggested I try having the saddle fitters come out and assess Impromptu. A few weeks later we had Schleese out to the farm. The saddle fitters were very nice and easy to work and speak with. They had me try Impromptu in a "Hunter Pleasure" Schleese saddle. I was pleased from the moment I sat in it and rode her around. Impromptu has grown leaps and bounds, physically, and mentally with our new saddle. It has allowed her the freedom of her shoulders, back, etc. Impromptu had a great first show season for herself and we are looking forward to an excellent show season this year! The saddle fits my other big Morgan mare for just as nicely! I highly recommend this saddle to Morgan owners!!! Its a pleasure to have a saddle company fit the saddles properly, and offer great customer service! Good customer service is a rarity these days and very much appreciated!

After 8 years of riding this was the first true saddle fitting we've ever experienced. I joined the (Schleese) contest because I wish I could afford to buy two $4800 saddles. It was the first time that someone listened to me about my daughter's long leg needs, and educated us about our horse's needs. It was a wonderful experience. I was actually told that we can't buy off the rack. We do have special needs. I am not crazy after all. No tack shop has ever truly addressed our needs. They just want to sell you something. My daughter's long legs and coming over knee rolls, has always been addressed as 'buy the next size up'. Kirsten measured her! No one has ever bothered to measure my daughter. She said she was a size 17 in the seat, but her leg length is a size 18. She suggested the extended stirrup bar, especially after she saw her ride and drop her stirrups which is an ongoing thing for her.

Now the horse we brought yesterday has major concerns. Kristen really educated us on correct saddle position for his unusual body type. She pointed out his sore spots as well. I regret that we did not bring our 4th level horse, but I will next time. We've had problems with saddles slipping forward and the list goes on. When they have previously adjusted our saddle it would tip forward when my daughter posts or backwards. I can honestly say this is the first true saddle assessment that someone really paid attention to the fine details. I am truly impressed. Thank you

We won our Equitation class!
I just wanted to thank you for the perseverence regarding my saddle. Even though there was a slight mix with us riding the wrong saddle during the last visit, mine turned out to be even better. I absolutely love it. It feels perfectly balanced and Jackson moves very well under it. We will certainly set up a date in the next six months for Schleese to re-check the fit, but we are very happy right now. ( We won our Equitation class under both judges two days after we got it!) Thanks again

I love my new saddle (JES Elite)! Thank you so very much for making it possible for me to continue to pursue the challenge of dressage with new confidence. Walter Zettl gave me a lesson last week and was thrilled that my mare was not grinding her teeth or sticking her tongue out - and my position was excellent. Such a relief!

I'm looking forward to years of enjoyment with my new saddle - it's perfect for me, and my mare is a new horse - more responsive and capable of more than I ever expected - happy and comfortable now. Thank you again and again!

Holly Momberger, NY

Jochen Schleese came to Maui to fit most of the island's show horses for saddles, and he recommended The Wave for me. I'm not all that into Dressage, but since I just bought a 4th level horse, I figured I need to get a really nice well fitting saddle. I paid about $4,000 well spent dollars on it. The only reason I would spend so much money on a saddle is that this saddle has an Adaptree in it. This means that I can use it on any horse I feel, after it has been adjusted to that horses specific weight and such. It's comfy, stylish, and I'll have it forever. I absolutely love my saddles from Schleese.Top quality, well put together.
You can use it on any horse (after it's adapted) - it Will never hurt your horse because it is MADE for your horse - All the Schleese techs are really nice and informative, even if you don't buy a saddle from them.

I'm emailing you to let you know that my saddle arrived here in Saskatoon just fine.

The fit looks really good and I find it very comfortable. I think you did a great job with your suggestion for the Elite for me as it seems to be exactly what I wanted. I also really liked the pocket girth. The workmanship and leather is beautiful. This is my FIRST new saddle, and I am really happy with my decision.

The saddle fitting was accomplished at First Class without any problems. Natalie (the Saddle fit Technician) was FANTASTIC. Please let her come to us again and again. She is knowledgeable, explains what she is doing in a thorough, easy-to-understand manner and has the patience of a saint!!!

Thank you both for accommodating us and putting up with our varied personalities. Natialie knew just how to handle it.

Gail Gersh

I just received my new JES elite dressage saddle and Matt Hiron fitted my saddle. Matt is just wonderful - very knowledgeable, very professional, and most of all a nice person. Matt was a real pleasure to work with and went out of his way at a last moment's notice to make sure I was happy with the saddle - what a great representative for Schleese - the best in service. The saddle, out of the box, was a near perfect fit for my Friesian mare. To the guy(s) who made my saddle - every blue ribbon is for you - please tell them that. The saddle is the best feel I've ever ridden, comfortable from the start. This was a great investment for me, and the Schleese team has been a key part of the excellent horses at Shangri La Friesians. Thank you!!

After having looked for the best saddle for my Lipizzan and for me for the last seven months (a horrific journey through many saddles professing to be specifically for this breed), I have found the perfect fit in a gently used Schleese semi custom saddle. The horse and I are thrilled!

But even more importantly, I wanted to let you know that I found the Schleese representatives whom I contacted to be curtious, enthusiastic and most willing to help. They knew me only through emails, yet were willing to give advice and to search for a saddle and a happy ending. I was extremely impressed with their prompt replies and sincere attention and would like to list them to give them credit where credit is dueOutstanding saddle and outstanding representatives.

Continuing thanks,

I thought I'd drop you line. After I saw you at the American Canyon saddle fitting in June I promptly road Marlow to a magnificent 67.292% at Grand Prix under a fair, but not too generous judge. We smoked all other high score records. Emboldened, I signed up for the Woodside CDI where we received a 61.56% in the special. I wasn't thinking that was such a great score until I looked at all the other CDI special scores (ignoring those with the likes of Anky or Isabella) and I realized I would actually beat 90% of the participants, me, an adult amateur non-professional.

I owe 50% of our success to your saddle. And by the way, the saddle you made for Psycho Boy is the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden in. Once I wear out Marlows saddle I'm buying one like that for him.

And did I mention Psycho Boy is going so well with his new saddle we have lines of changes down and he's even throwing one tempi's here and there - Whoopee!!!

The times I REALLY notice the difference with the "new" saddle are at the canter. Mercedes was never easy about transitions to canter, and always felt stiff (I realize looking back) and went onto her forehand. Now, she transitions smoothly and canters with her hind legs under her and her forehand UP. What a wonderful change! As I found when we did our "test drive" with you, I feel much more balanced, my centre of gravity feels like it goes straight down. I love the feeling. Thanks so much for your help. May you have many, many clients lining up at your door!

Just wanted to take a brief moment to express my heartfelt thanks for the wonderful service and saddle :) I cannot expressed how intimidated I was, I the great unwashed of the riding world, to have the supreme honor of being assessed by Jochen and John. Yet you quickly made me at ease and the overall process was practical and with well-infused moments of humor. We did not provide you with the greatest video footage. We had to re-do the drawings. Yet you took this all with good grace and the results are simply SUPERB. We came to you with two problems, one of a saddle that kept on sliding forward on my mare's shoulders and the other, of my newfound inability to keep my leg in the proper position which had me despaired beyond belief and for which I had been advised to seek a smaller "more suitable" horse. Well, Jochen - I will never know how you and your team really pulled this off other that you are simply put - demonstrated experts in your field - no fluff no false pretense. We knew this when we came to you, and then got to live and experience firsthand the 3S experience. My new Wave saddle fits my horse. My new Wave saddle puts me in a secure position that enables me to maintain a correct leg alignment from the get go. A miracle - probably not but good science and mastery of your craft. THANK YOU!

My much-anticipated new saddle arrived on Friday. I just wanted to let you know that I LOVE it - it is a beautiful saddle and the most comfortable saddle I have ridden in. I bought my new Wave saddle in July. I couldn't trot in it as my horse was recovering from an injury. After I was able to trot I discovered that the saddle fit my horse beautifully but I had some fit problems with it. I sent it back and you bent over backwards. You made rather extensive changes to accommodate me. I have ridden in it three times and am thrilled. Your company has never let me down and has truly provided outstanding customer service. This is the second Schleese I have purchased. The service on my old saddle was equally outstanding. I am grateful to your staff - especially Christine in customer service - for understanding and accommodating the needs of us fussy dressage riders.

Thank you so much for refitting my daughters' Wave saddle yesterday. I know that your visit was out of the ordinary and I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your good will and attention. I would also like you to know that I just got a call from the horse's trainer and she was absolutely thrilled with his performance today in dressage. She said that he has never gone so well. He didn't have a hollow moment, was always in the bridle, and his transitions (both up and down) were the best ever.
I feel that the properly fit saddle has a great deal to do with his way of going, and I would just like to thank you for doing such a great job!

I just wanted to tell you how much I love my Wave saddle. My horse is going so much better and happier and her shape is beginning to change. Her withers are starting to come up which I thought would never happen and her straightness and quality of gaits is very much improved-especially her extensions. Thank you for a wonderful saddle! And thank you so much to Jochen Schleese for coming to the farm in N.C. and fitting my mare. Thank you especially for taking so much time to explain all the details of saddle fitting and how they relate to the horse's physiology and movement. What a learning experience!

I just have to write and tell you how excited Insbruck and I are over our new saddle. For the first time since I've started riding dressage I am comfortable and feel I'm sitting correctly. Inzy is moving so much freer and he too is comfortable. My trainer was surprised and pleased with my new position. But that's not all - we went on a 2.5 hour trail ride and I could have gone all day! (I just wish they made chairs this comfortable!) Thank you from the bottom of my heart and bless you and your skill at making saddles!

I mentioned to you that I ride in so many different saddles that either belong to myself or to clients, that it never really made a lot of difference to me what I was sitting on. There were a few brands that for the most part all rode the same, until I rode one of your saddles. One of the things that really stands out in my mind is how effortlessly one can ride in your saddle. It seems to take no extraneous effort to always remain in balance. The subtle energy you use to always place yourself in the most favorable position can now be used somewhere else or not at all. Thank you for this wonderful saddle.

My children are both extremely fortunate to ride on custom made Schleese saddles, which I believe, without question, have given them considerable advantage when they are competing. I can recall that previous to having you craft a custom made saddle for one of our horses, this horse would receive numerous treatments including acupuncture, chiropractic, etc. because of a back condition. One could observe his back quiver with discomfort when his old saddle was placed on him, but once fitted with a proper saddle, this condition subsided. Your saddle, simply put, has made a world of difference in my daughters' equine partners, which in turn has made a world of difference in the results that both my children are able to achieve. It is ironic that many competitors will spend significant monies in the purchase of the horse, the training of the horse, the training of the competitor, the costs of room and board, vet, trailering and entry fees, yet may not obtain the most important tool and accessory which will make the horse comfortable and hopefully pain free to perform at its best. The extra costs of obtaining a custom fitted saddle has not been an expense but rather an investment - increasing the years that the horses will be able to perform to their maximum potential. We have now purchased several saddles from Schleese and have always thoroughly enjoyed dealing not only with you, but also your staff, who are extremely knowledgeable and quite frankly, a complete pleasure to deal with.

Jochen visited Sea Horse Ranch last evening. Once he got underway, he was thorough and completely dedicated to making each saddle fit properly. Jochen stuck to it - watched Susanna ride well into the cold night until it was done properly. Her new horse is half TB and half DWB with truly a huge difference from the right to the left side, making the saddle fit extra challenging. I did want you to know that I appreciate the time and the energy. I don't think I am the only person who felt the service was worth the wait.

It was such a pleasure meeting you and your staff, and especially working with you. I have never met anyone like you who knows so much about the fitting of the saddle to horse and rider. Your saddles are the best I have ever ridden in and I think this is the best purchase I have ever made.

I continue to be so impressed by your vision, expertise, and energy. I am so glad you are sharing your amazing work with all kinds of riders, even those in backyards! It is so vital for those of us in this English riding "desert" to have someone of your caliber come to educate people. There is a desperate need for real experts here. It is a thrill to know that a lot of horses and riders here are more comfortable thanks to you.

I just purchased a saddle from Schleese Saddlery and I wanted to drop you a note and let you know what a wonderful experience I am having with your organization. The customer service I have received from my salesperson was outstanding. He was excellent at explaining points to me, and answering all of my questions. Everyone I dealt with was incredibly pleasant and helpful at all times. I chose the Schleese Saddle because of the quality, fit to my horse and the comfort level for me - but also because I wanted a relationship with the Saddle Maker for future adjustments, reflocking or repairs. I do not want a person in some tack store of questionable qualification attempting to adjust my saddle fit when my young horse starts filling out. Therefore, a big part of my purchase decision was based on the customer service I received from your employees. I will not hesitate to recommend Schleese Saddlery to anyone I know in the market for a saddle.

Thank you for your knowledge and caring attitude! It shows in your beautiful products, workmanship, and most of all the way " Tommy Terrific" performs.

I first purchased my Schleese saddle in 1998 or '99 when " Tommy Terrific " was known as " Tommy the Terror ". In 2003 J. Schleese fitted my saddle. Tommy and I went on to our very first Prix St. George class and won the class!

In 2005 Tommy was once again having back trouble and your representative came out to help. We entered our 6th test in competition. Instead of winning our Intermediate I class we placed third because I went off course. ( I couldn't believe I made such an easy mistake. Tommy wanted to send me back for retraining).Actually I was honored to place in that class. Thousands of horses compete at the Winter Equestrian Festival and many do not take any ribbons home.

I am pleased to be a part of your winning team. I know my saddle maker, veterinarian, farrier, and dentist work on top international world class horses. So I have always considered it an honor to have you fit my horse's saddle. Thank you for helping Tommy Terrific to perform at his best.

I recently purchased 3 different dressage saddles to try to fit my Trak gelding - all 3 will have to be listed for sale once his new Schleese arrives.

My mare is also now ridden in a Schleese - a Wave. Her previous saddle will also have to be sold. She just had an evaluation by the equine massage therapist who pronounced her the best she's ever seen her and she's been seeing her monthly for 2 years. I did not tell her (forgot to tell her actually) that she had been ridden in the Wave for the past month. The trainer is raving about her swinging back.

If my horse is happy, then I'm happy. While I had avoided buying a Schleese thinking it too expensive, it really ended up being the perfect saddle and the expense was in buying other saddles that didn't fit.

If anyone you talk to needs to be convinced about the importance of saddle fit for the rider as well as the horse, tell them this story...

I went over to Poplar Place this morning to ride with Werner. At the end of my lesson on Nikko, he told me how much better I was sitting and how much better my leg position was (that's been a problem Werner has been after me about for a long time), then asked "What did you do?!" When I told him I'd had the saddle refitted and adjusted, he just said again how much better I was riding and what a difference it was making with my aids. He also pointed out himself that he had no idea that I had had any work done on the saddle and didn't know that I had been to a saddle fit clinic (I'd never said anything to him about it), so his observations hadn't been influenced by any expectation or previous knowledge.

You fitted my big chestnut horse, Waukegan, late last Saturday in Oxford, MI, and I cannot believe the difference in her - - exactly as you described.

I rode her Sunday, the day after the fitting. I usually lunge her first because she will get feisty and will hesitate going forward for the first 20 minutes. She would feel like she is ready to buck. However, there were too many people in the arena to lunge, so I got on her and walked her for about 15 minutes. She felt free in the shoulder immediately with a swinging walk. Her ears stayed up and she was very perky with no hesitation going forward. I asked her for a trot expecting her normal issues (balky, sideways, dropping her head behind the bit...) and she immediately went into a beautiful, forward trot. She never acted 'badly' once, and I cannot believe the difference. If this is the way she is the first day in her new saddle, I can only imagine how good she will be by the end of summer. My sister said my position was 100 times better and she had to get on to try the 'new horse and saddle' as well. She was very impressed and said it is the best Waukegan has ever felt. (I think your best 'salesman' will end up being Waukegan -- there is a big interest in the obvious change in her and everyone is asking me about my new saddle.)

You have made my horse a joy to ride again and solved this 'mystery' for me.

Thanks for being so generous with your time and for sharing your knowledge. We hope to have you back to lecture this fall!

I want to thank Schleese for my "previously loved" saddle. I am not a professional horsewoman; I am a professional project manager for information technology projects. Riding is my escape, my therapy, and my much needed recreation. So when I decided to invest in a Schleese saddle, it was strictly for my pleasure and the horse's comfort. This saddle has made a huge difference in the way I ride and how secure I feel in the saddle. The big, beautiful, white horse on which I take my lessons, and with whom I have fallen completely in love, seems to appreciate the saddle as much as I do, and that is extremely important to me as well.

The decision to invest in a Schleese saddle has ended as a success story, but it didn't start out that way. There were many problems with the first saddle I tried. After several adjustments and changes, it became apparent that it just would not do. I had lost faith that Schleese could provide me with the saddle I had so hoped for. But Christine Curtin, who handles my account, found the perfect saddle for me. I have aging parents, both of whom require considerable medical attention, so I was out of pocket at various critical times during this process. Christine kept the saddle she found for me in her office until I could get back with her to make the exchange. Christine has been very patient, helpful, and supportive to me, regardless of the fact that I am not a professional rider. I feel that she gives me the same attention that she affords the world class competitors.

Christine has my gratitude, and I think she exemplifies the Schleese reputation that led me here in the first place.

Your saddle is absolutely fabulous - that is the best saddle! I love the scooped out area for my tailbone - it's the same as rowing machine with those little indentations. The rowing seats are designed to align the spine to project the force over knees when you're in rowing position. I never correlated this to the same spot on rowing machine, but you were right on the mark! What made this such a wonderful experience for me was my horse had an allergic reaction to a tube of Naquasone, a steroid, and he foundered severely. At one point the fear was I would lose him but he fought for me and I for him and here we are riding and working together one year post founder - almost to the day. In telling the story, in accommodating my saddle for my greatly changed horse, it all came back and I can not express the absolute gratitude and joy I have for not only my beautiful saddle, but that my horse is once again comfortable and happy in his work, and Genevieve and her co-worker helped us with this. It may have been a routine fitting for them but it was absolutely monumental for "Clancy" and me. Thank you all for helping us get back to the joy of ownership and working together as dressage partners. We will never be top riders but it is as important to me and means as much to me, as it means to the professionals riding Grand Prix. I may need to have an adjustment earlier than a year from now as I am hopeful Clancy will gain back his muscles from having almost a year off. Please keep me on your e-mail list if you happen to be in the Zip Code Area of 08060. Again, my thanks,

Candace Phipps, NJ

Thank you for the excellent service this last year with my saddle. It has not been an easy situation but your staff has been wonderful. They are prompt, helpful, and friendly. You have made huge progress in the business end of your company and I congratulate you for it!

I wanted to follow-up on my appointment with Genevieve Kendell on Saturday, March 11 at 9:00am. She and the assistant with her were so fantastic, even early arriving, and my saddle once again fits my horse beautifully like new - when I first got it almost 2 years ago. I have noticed a muscling increase through the top of his back - a doctor friend of mine was talking about hypertonia and hyperplasia - which is where the muscle fibers get big and separate and then the individual fibers also get bigger. He now has muscle waves all across his back that even extend alongside his barrel. His traps are all filling in - he will have an extraordinary neck! I feel his development was plateaued because there was no room to grow to, but now he is changing so rapidly!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gen and John for the time and effort that they expended on us at the Pennsylvania Horse World Expo. I purchased a saddle last year and was having significant problems with it. Gen and John worked on the saddle at the booth, and when that didn't work, they brought the saddle machine back to the stall area and worked there. I can not tell you the time that they spent with us on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but it was substantial. The results that we had hoped for were not attained, so Gen added us to Her Virginia schedule for additional tweaking. Her schedule was already full and I know that she was anxious to get home, but she spent three hours with us fitting a new saddle to our Stallion. The result of Her effort was amazing. Vinchenzo's stride lengthened incredibly and winging he was doing with one foot almost disappeared completely. This horse is our pride and joy and it is wonderful to see him comfortable again. The education we received was invaluable. We will continue to sing your praises Gen. Thanks again and if we can help you in any way please let us know.

I would like to let you know how much I appreciated the services provided by one of your employees, Genevieve Kendell. I purchased one of your saddles 5 years ago. I saw Gen at ROLEX and she arranged her schedule to accommodate a fitting for me at the farm where I board in KY. She came this AM on her way to Chagrin Falls OH. Gen did a wonderful job and I am confident my horse and I will be much more comfortable. I really do like my Schleese saddle and am so happy I made the purchase.

I'm an engineer and I'm impressed in the research which has gone into your products and the correct application of them to each individual (horse and rider).

Schleese is an incredible company of professionals who collaborate to meet special needs. Thank you all for making sure Yogi and I have the right saddle. Christine, thanks for calling about how the Wave saddle is working. Please let Jochen know that it fits Yogi and I much better than the JES. I have ridden in it about 8 times now. I do not see anything that does not look correct when I remove the saddle and pad. He does have some ruffled hairs but I think that is just his winter coat shedding out.

Thank you all for the extra time and effort. Hopefully we can put saddle issues behind us and just go out and have some fun.
