A RECENT INNOVATION... The "INFINITY"

Picture

Benefits of the Infinity This dressage saddle is designed to give the rider a classic dressage seat. A deep seat with a 10cm cantle gives the rider a centered ride without feeling too much push from behind. The soft seat foam and slight forward balance of the saddle provide the rider with the support and comfort needed without sacrificing fit, while keeping him with the motion of the horse. The wide gullet and wide flat panels disperse the weight across the horse’s back, allowing the spine to move, bend and lift with the horse’s motion during collection. The shoulder cut out at the front of this integrated ‘relief’ panel provides room for the shoulder to rotate and keeps the saddle from inhibiting shoulder movement. The popular Infinity is a great value at a competitive price.

MEET A FACE AT SCHLEESE- Chris Moloughney

Picture Picture

R- Chris and Linda Haughton (Business Development Coordinator) at a staff BBQ

A native of Stratford ON, Chris's passion for working with leather and working with his hands, led him to the saddler apprenticeship program at Schleese. Five years later, as a Certified Saddler, his favorite models are the 'Wave' for the 'beautiful shape of the seat', and the 'Eventer' because of the large amount of hand stitching. Chris says, "I work with wonderful people who have taught me so much about the trade, and life in general. Many co-workers are like family. Jochen is very inspiring and interesting! I love working with Sonja (Certified Master Saddler); she has taught me so much. Working at Schleese, I have learned about myself, dealing with people, and what is important in life". In his spare time, Chris enjoys archery, paintball, travel and spending time with family and friends.

Ed. note: Chris is a GREAT guy (and an eligible bachelor)!

>> Great job Schleese!
Here is a short blip about how Impromptu (romper) and I feel about our Schleese saddle! After trying several well known brands of hunt saddles, I was really frustrated! Impromptu a three year old morgan mare, has a nice wide spine, and well developed withers. She and I had come to a stand still in our training progress as none of my saddles were fitting her. They either rolled side to side as I was riding her, or sat to low on her making me ride "uphill" all the time. A friend of mine rides in a Schleese dressage saddle on her morgan mare. She suggested I try having the saddle fitters come out and access Impromptu. A few weeks later we had Schleese out to the farm. The saddle fitters were very nice and easy to work and speak with. They had me try Impromptu in a "Hunter Pleasure" Schleese saddle. I was pleased from the moment I sat in it and rode her around. Impromptu has grown leaps and bounds, physically, and mentally with our new saddle. It has allowed her the freedom of her shoulders, back, etc. Impromptu had a great first show season for herself and we are looking forward to an excellent show season this year! The saddle fits my other big Morgan mare for just as nicely! I highly recommend this saddle to Morgan owners!!! It's a pleasure to have a saddle company fit the saddles properly, and offer great customer service! Good customer service is a rarity these days and very much appreciated! -Suzanne Evans and Impromptu (Trainer Evans Equestrian Center, PA)

SADDLE FIT TIP by Kristen Vleitstra, SFT & Training Coordinator

Picture

The length of the saddle on your horse can really effect their comfort and relaxation in a ride. Whether your horse is short backed or long-backed, their "Saddle Support Area" needs to be examined. To check your horses "SSA" start by getting him to stand square on level ground. Draw a straight line up his side where the hair pattern changes from facing towards the hindquarters to facing towards the chest area. In most horses this is the line where the last supporting rib lies in the back. If your saddle extends past this line, it could mean that your saddle is too long for your horse. Common signs of a saddle being too long are 'bucking' (more at the canter), and also the horse wanting to 'park out' (stand with the hind legs extended out behind him instead of underneath his hind end). If your saddle is too long for the horse's back you should seriously consider a replacement, as this problem cannot be solved by reflocking or refitting the saddle.

LOOK WHO'S RIDING IN SCHLEESE- Peter Gray!

Peter Gray of Orangeville, Ontario, is no stranger to the Olympics, having competed in three Olympics representing Bermuda, before getting his Canadian citizenship and riding for Canada at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. Gray was an individual bronze medalist at the 1987 Pan- American Games and he competed at the 1990 World Equestrian Games in Stockholm, Sweden. From 1995-2000 Gray was the National Coach of the Canadian Three-Day Event Team. Well done Peter! Schleese designed an eventing saddle according to Gray's specifications -and this saddle model bears his name!
